Hi and welcome to Thornton Childcare (Established 6th December 1993)

We are Jane and Tim Thornton, OFSTED registered childminders who are fully insured through the National Childminding Association NCMA of which we are also members.

I, (Jane) am also an approved accredited childminder on a Quality Assured Trio Childminding Network

I also Started Childminding in december 1993 and Tim Joined me in 2005.

We both enjoy childminding very much and feel the children benefit from having both male and female carers. We have 3 grown up children, Sam 21, Chris 20 and Melissa 18 years old. Sam and chris no longer live at home, we have just recently become very proud Grandparents.

The whole of our home and garden are Ofsted registered safe for the children.

Our Registration allows us to care for a maximum of 12 children under the age of 8, of whom only 6 children can be aged under 5. Of these only 2 maybe under the age of 1. We may also care for  children over 8 as long as it does not adversely affect the care of the younger children.

Our normal opening hours are Monday through to Friday from 7.30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (unless agreed otherwise).
Evening or weekend care is not normally available, but we may be able to accommodate your requirements in special cases.

Evening Babysitting can also be arranged as and when needed, Jane, Sam and Melissa are all CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checked and are available upon request.

We offer both full and part time care, before and after school care, term time only or holidays only and can also cater for shift workers.

Qualifications are always kept up to date and we also attend regular training courses and conferences to ensure we are complying with the latest regulations.

We encourage home based childcare as a personal approach to your child’s needs and sense of belonging, giving you ‘Peace of Mind’.
